Hello. Recently, the trends of academic and technological development related to electrical engineering has been rapidly diversified. Especially the development is accelerating the promotion scheme of smart grid-based new projects, which may bring about changes similar to the conceptual change in 'Copernicus Revolution', having impacts on mankind, ranging from an individual life to the electrical power industry of the world. Experiencing the unprecedented forced rolling blackout, we realized yet again the impotance of electrical energy. And the accident of the nuclear power plant in Hukusima Japan has increased the interest in environmental issues. Keeping an eye on such maelstrom of changes, our department has been implementing the systematic education from the basic science like mathematics and physics to the practical major knowledge required by industrial settings, in order to produce electrical engineers who will take social responsibilities and be faithful to their roles. Our education and research activities are carried out within the large scope of electrical energy-related technologies and prospects, such as power electronics and electronic equipment, electrical power system and electrical energy economy, signal processing and intelligent control, electricality application and micro/nano elements, renewable energy systems including photovoltaic system and wind energy. Our department has sought the enhancement and internal stability of curriculum under the support from the 'Basic Manpower Training Project of KEPCO', 'Nurturing EXcellent engineers in information Technology Project' led by the Ministry of Information & Communication, 'Electric Energy IT Manpower Training Project' led by the Ministry of Intelligence & Economy, and the Renewable Energy Original Technology Research Center. Above all, our department focuses on training students with comprehensive thinking and view, who have the ability to explore the truth based on the reality, as well as focus on detailed knowledge, under the educational ideology, so-called 'Be Faithful to the Root'. We are proud that not only the employment rate is high, but the accordance between academic major and employment is very high, and the number of graduates who get a position in conglomerates is the greatest among relevant departments. Despite the fact, we are not satisfied, supporting our students both materially and morally in order to train them to be adventurous and active when challenging the possibility of 1%. My Fellow Members of our department! Like the proverb, 'Have a great ambition and grand hope, so that it will come true one day', let us do our best and make the dream come true. Thank you. |
